A video about PlaNYC’s efforts to create an environmental agenda for New York City that minimizes carbon emissions through alternative fuels, energy efficiency and new technology.
This video discusses PlaNYC’s efforts to create an environmental agenda for New York City that minimizes carbon emissions through alternative fuels, energy efficiency and new technology. It is a short follow-up on NYC’s ambitious initiative to pursue sustainability as the city faces the combined challenges of population growth and climate change. In 2007, NYC asked “where do we want our growing city to be in 2030”, and now in 2011, it is asking “how to get there even faster.”
While the sustainability plan has led to progress in the past 4 years, there remain great challenges in tackling problems related to air quality, parks, water quality and supply and transportation systems. These are some of the big next steps the city is embarking on to make a “Greener, Greater New York.”
