Greenpeace urges Facebook to go coal-free.

Greenpeace International launched a campaign to get Facebook to drop coal and commit to clean energy, in an effort to curb climate change. The campaign is pushing for the company to use clean energy exclusively, develop a plan to go coal free by 2021, educate users about how it powers its services and about its carbon footprint, and advocate for clean energy.

In 2010, Facebook announced that it would power a large new data center with electricity produced from coal, one of the largest causes of global warming.
